Hi! I'm Emma. I am a PREKURE Certified Health Coach and Metabolic Nutrition Coach, and also a Registered Personal Trainer. I help those who are starting out on their health journey, and those who are juggling busy lives, family, careers, with their health and fitness. I see the benefits of my own health and fitness journey in my life every day, and I want to use my experience and my knowledge to help others.
My passion for health and fitness began many years ago. I struggled with my mental health, but not wanting to be taking medication for the rest of my life, I knew there must be a better way. I started with exercise, and I fell in love with how it made me feel. It wasn't about having big muscles or running an ultra marathon, but about the day to day boost in my mood and my energy, and the feeling of achievement each time I completed a workout. Later, my international travel ignited my love for cooking, and what drove me was the challenge to make healthy food taste great - nobody should eat terrible food just because it is healthy!
As someone who loves to learn, I started to learn about how powerful lifestyle can be both in preventing disease and helping to recover. I learnt about how interconnected our mental and physical health are. And about how our day to day lifestyle can influence everything including sleep, stress, performance at work, social interactions. I wanted to share that with others. But just having the knowledge isn't enough. You need to be able to apply that knowledge. That is the hard part, and that is where coaching comes in.
My goal is to help make things simple. Health shouldn't be complicated. These days we are given so many messages about what we should do to be healthier, fitter, happier. I can help you cut through that, to figure out what is important to you, what you want to achieve, and how you want to get there.
I understand that we live in a busy and complex world. It isn't always possible to overhaul our lives to focus on our health and fitness, and nor should we have to. My approach is to help you discover how you can make the positive lifestyle changes you want to make in a way that works with your life.
A health coach is your personal health cheerleader, guide and partner. Health coaching gives you the confidence, knowledge, and skills to become an active participant in your own care and achieve your own health goals. The aim is to guide you towards achieving your own health goals, using health education within a coaching framework.
I can bring some of the knowledge and understanding of the science and psychology of particular areas, I can help you understand your why, and provide accountability to help you along the way. I won’t tell you what to do or how to do it.
The process is about guiding and supporting you to learn what you can achieve and maintain on your own, knowing there is qualified support there while you go through the natural ups and downs of any learning process.
